The URI Geospatial Extension Program is hosted by the URI Environmental Data Center, Department of Natural Resources Science, College of the Environment and Life Sciences. Begun in October 2004, it is currently funded by a 3-year startup grant awarded in partnership by the USDA Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), and the NASA Science Mission Directorate.

This program's mission is to promote the use of geospatial technologies in Rhode Island by facilitating access to data and educational opportunities.
