Most cities and towns in Rhode Island have either entered the GIS arena or are in the process of doing so. While some municipalities are using the technology to good advantage, others are struggling with implementation and justifying to town management the initial expense and need for continued funding.

This forum will give you the opportunity to hear how six towns in Rhode Island are putting geospatial technologies to work. Six members of a panel from City and Town MIS/IT, Tax Assessment, Planning, and Public Works Departments with several years of experience using GIS will give an overview of their efforts.

Following these presentations, the panel will field questions in an open discussion session on “what worked, what didn't”. Direct input from the audience will be strongly encouraged to augment the panel discussion.
