The Geospatial Training Program is designed to meet the needs of professionals, students and others who are interested in learning to use Geospatial Technologies as a tool for managing, analyzing and exploring spatial data. All classes are held at the University of Rhode Island's Kingston Campus. If you are a planner, resource manager, utilities manager, student, realtor or are just interested in learning about geospatial technologies these training programs are for you.

We currently offer the following Geospatial Training opportunities:

Introduction to GIS: This three day training program has been written in collaboration with the University of Connecticut. In this course you will learn the concepts of GIS and become very familar with the Rhode Island GIS database (RIGIS) while using ESRI's ArcGIS 10 ® software. (more...)

Using ArcGIS.com®: Maps and Geographic Data on the Web: This half-day training will introduce participants to ESRI's online mapping applications available at ArcGIS.com. The training will explore the ready to use maps available and also explore the basic functionality of the applications available.(more...)

Putting Maps on the Web - Google Maps and Google Earth: This 1/2 day course is intended for those who work with geographic data, but requires only a modest level of technical skill. No prior GIS knowledge is necessary! (more...)
